Flare (FLR) After FlareDrops: What Still Earns Rewards in 2026

By CoinDrop Editorial (gspteck) · Published 2026-09-22 · Last verified 2026-09-22

Flare’s FlareDrop program finished on 30 January 2026. That ends the 36-month FIP.01 distribution calendar—not Flare itself. This article is for holders who still see “claim FLR” spam and need a clear split between ended FlareDrops and ongoing protocol rewards (FTSO delegation and validator staking), with steps you can run on official tools only.

What changed on 30 January 2026

According to Flare’s documentation, FlareDrops completed their scheduled run under FIP.01 on 30 January 2026. After that date, WFLR, rFLR, and staked FLR no longer accrue new FlareDrop rewards.

Protocol rewards that are not FlareDrops continue: FTSO delegation rewards, FLR staking rewards, and FAssets agent participation remain governed by network rules. Flare’s own explainer: Beyond FlareDrops: FLR enters its operational utility era and Get FlareDrops.

If a third-party site advertises “February 2026 FlareDrop” or “new monthly drop seasons,” treat it as high-risk until you can match it to an official Flare URL.

What FLR is still for

FLR is the native token of Flare, an EVM-compatible Layer 1 focused on on-chain data. Per the Flare developer hub, FLR is used for:

Path A — Wrap and delegate to FTSO (no lockup on delegation)

Delegation assigns your WFLR vote power to up to two FTSO data providers so they can publish price/data feeds. You keep custody of the tokens; you are not sending them to the provider.

  1. Move FLR off an exchange into a self-custody wallet that supports Flare.
  2. Open the official Flare Portal → connect wallet.
  3. Wrap FLR → WFLR (1:1 via the wrap contract).
  4. Delegate WFLR to one or two FTSO providers. Flare’s overview: How do I delegate my Flare tokens and earn rewards? and Delegate & Stake FLR.
  5. Claim FTSO rewards on a schedule. Flare documents that FTSO rewards accrue on a short epoch cadence and expire after 90 days if unclaimed—so “set and forget” without claiming (or autoclaim) can burn rewards.

Autoclaim (optional): Flare supports appointing an executor to claim on your behalf for a small fee; setup is available via supported wallets/dapps or the Portal. Details: Autoclaiming on Flare.

Path B — Stake FLR to validators (lockup applies)

Warning card that staking uses native FLR with lockup—re-check Portal minimum size and duration

Staking is separate from FTSO delegation. Flare’s stake materials describe depositing native FLR toward validators with a minimum stake size and minimum duration (commonly cited as 50,000 FLR and at least 14 days—always re-check live Portal rules before sending size). WFLR is for FTSO delegation; staking uses native FLR under current Portal flows.

Only stake what you can lock. Understand duration and any slashing/availability risk for your chosen validator before confirming.

Residual FlareDrop claims (if any remain)

New accrual stopped after 30 January 2026. If your wallet still shows an old claimable FlareDrop month in the official Portal or explorer, claim only there. Historical claim windows were time-bounded; do not assume leftovers last forever.

How this fits CoinDrop readers

CoinDrop tracks airdrops and on-chain reward workflows. FLR is a useful case study because the incentive distribution ended while the network utility did not. For vocabulary around on-chain rewards generally, see blockchain rewards explained.
